FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect to pay for a blind installed by a professional?
Evidently you will be paying more for a custom-made blind to factor in the time & labour required to measure your window(s) and determine your requirements including fabric & style. Most retailers or blind installers will give you the option to only supply or supply & install for your convenience which will most likely cost more. Interior Blinds will factor in the whole job to supply & install roller blinds unless otherwise stated. Interior Blinds can provide a slightly cheaper price for supplying the blinds without installing them. Our recommendation is to allow us to install the roller blinds ourselves to save you the hassle unless you are a trades person or familiar with our products. Note that we may not be able to provide a guarantee for our blinds if the installation is not undertaken by us or a professional.
Is there a big difference between off-the-shelf roller blinds and custom-made or made-to-measure roller blinds?
Yes, there is a very big difference between off the shelf blinds bought from a large retail chain and blinds that are custom made and purchsed from a local retailer. Custom made roller blinds are far more superior in quality and are made to fit your windows so they’ll look they they should be there. not to mention the convenience and time saved by having a professional install
Over-roll vs Under-roll for roller blinds
Over-rolled roller blinds are suitable when the blind is mounted in the recess of the window for a tidy and compact look especially if you do not want to see the tube or the backing of the blind fabric. Under-rolled roller blinds are standard and make it easier to operate the chain when pulling the blind up or down. An under-rolled blind will tend to roll better around the tube however the tube is visible along with the backing of the blind fabric. Under-rolled blinds are best when you want the blind to roll closest to the window, glass or window frame / architrave. For example, a roller blind in the bedroom to maximise blockout would be best mounted onto the window frame (otherwise known as Face-Fixed) and under-rolled so the fabric is closest to the frame to minimise the gap.
Blinds vs Curtains?
Not that we’re bias but we would always choose Roller Blinds over curtains.. best to keep it simple! We don’t like to make a feature of our blinds, the feature should be the view outside the window. However, some people like to combine sheer curtains with blockout roller blinds to create a more dynamic effect.
How do I go about finding the most appropriate & suitable retailer (or fitter) for roller blinds in Melbourne's eastern suburbs?
If you’re located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, espeically the outer eastern suburbs, such as Blackburn, Mitcham, Ringwood, Croydon or Lilydale (and everywhere in between including all the way to Mornington Peninsula). Interior Blinds offers a comprehsive consultation (including measure & quote) which showcases our quality roller blinds at factory direct prices manufatured, supplied & installed within 2-3 weeks.
Which type of blind is the most popular and easiest to maintain?
Roller Blinds are hands-down the most popular blind and the people’s choice for window furnishing treatments. Roller Blinds and Blockout Blinds are simple yet effective in their purpose and they take up very little room on your window therefore maximising either the view or light entering the room. Roller Blinds are a versitile furnishing product where you either pull it down to cover up and blockout or pull it up to uncover depending on the time of day and light control. Roller Blinds are not as susceptible to damage like the other blinds that dangle and gets snaged on things. It’s very unlikely that you’ll break a blind so that’s why their longevity is better than other blinds and furnishings. Furthermore, roller blinds tend to blend in to the walls and window frames so you don’t even notice them most of thre time and they’re not making a feature of your windows unnecessarily.
What are the best types of window furnishings for investment properties?
If you have an investment property and currently rent it out, we recommend roller blinds as the most suitable because they are low maintenance, durable, unobtrusive and cheaper. There are a few cheaper and lower range fabrics options available for customer seeking blinds on a budget. If they are damaged or need replacing after a few years then you needn’t worry too much as you wouldn’t haven’t spent too much.
